Or at least that’s how it appeared on Uefa’s website on Friday afternoon…
Yep, days after booking their spot in the Kiev final against Real Madrid, the website for European football’s governing body appeared to have decided that Jürgen Klopp’s men were already Champions League winners.
A graphic which topped one of their Champions League web pages appeared with the title ‘Season 2017/18’. Liverpool’s badge also appeared on the graphic, with the word ‘Winner’ visible below it.

Although the mistake was quickly amended, plenty of people picked up on it with the image shared across Twitter.
Liverpool lost 4-2 in their return with AS Roma in the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night, although their 5-2 victory over the Italian side at Anfield a week prior to that was enough to progress 7-6 on aggregate.
Real Madrid, chasing their third consecutive European crown, survived a nervy end to their game with Bayern Munich. Despite winning 2-1 in Bavaria in the first leg, the game was delicately poised at 2-2 in its final minutes, leaving the German champions just a goal away from knocking Zinedine Zidane’s side out of the competition.
