How’s about this for being economical with the truth?
God love Sky Sports. Since 1992 they’ve been doing their best to portray a somewhat sanitised version of football for the masses to consume at their leisure. And fair dues, they’ve helped popularise the sport.
But some things are obvious to one and all, so there’s little point in trying to pretty them up. Leicester City were quite rightly enjoying their day in the sun as they paraded the Premier League trophy around town.
Jamie Vardy had more reason to celebrate than most, finishing the club’s top scorer, being voted the football writers’ player of the year, and cementing his place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad.
You’d certainly forgive him a celebratory drink following his heroics this season, and true to form, the England man was supping on a can of Fosters whilst soaking in the atmosphere on the party bus
Except Sky did their very best to disguise the fact that Vardy was on the cans by coming out with a very obvious lie. The narration went as follows:
“You’ve got extraordinary scenes there…you can see Jamie Vardy handing round an energy drink…”
Yep. “Energy drink” pic.twitter.com/sxmEQufxpq

Unsurprisingly, no one watching at home was fooled in the slightest…
