Shay Given leads calls for return of Joe Hart as fans react to this ‘triple save’ for Torino

Pep Guardiola is still reeling from the biggest defeat of his managerial career after Manchester City lost 4-0 at Everton on Sunday.

The result seemed to be the final nail in the coffin of any lingering title hopes the former Barca boss had for this season, but it also raised serious questions about City keeper Claudio Bravo, who Guardiola brought in to replace Joe Hart in the summer.

It was a theme Jamie Carragher picked up on in a brutal analysis of the former Barcelona stopper on Monday Night Football.

“If Pep Guardiola wants to win the Champions League or the league, which is why he’s been brought in, you won’t win it with that goalkeeper,” Carragher bluntly stated.

Emotion then got the better of the former Reds defender as he watched one of Bravo’s failed attempts to deny a goal as he said with exasperation: “He’s got to save this… Jesus Christ!”

“De Gea saves it, Courtois saves it, Lloris saves it, Cech saves it. No doubt about it,” Carragher added.

Hart’s former rival at City, retired Republic of Ireland ‘keeper Shay Given, told talkSPORT that the England stopper should be recalled from Italy if Guardiola is to save their season.

“Joe was maybe harshly treated at the start of the season. But he is still on the books, he is still a Manchester City player,” said Given.

The spotlight is on Bravo like never before – just when Hart is apparently in the form of his life while on loan at Torino in Serie A.

Last night this clip of Hart doing his best to try to keep out AC Milan during their 2-2 draw was doing the rounds on Twitter.

It must be noted that the ball did cross the line on the second attempt, but that didn’t stop City fans calling for his return to the Etihad…

Sadly for the Citizens, it’s being reported today that there is no recall clause in Hart’s loan deal, meaning they will have to wait until the summer at least before they can bring him home.
