Seamus Coleman’s involvement in the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying campaign is more than likely over.
The Donegal man was stretchered off the field during Ireland’s 0-0 draw with Wales on the Aviva on Friday night after being on the receiving end of a horror tackle from Neil Taylor.
Both men left the field after the incident, with the referee showing the Welshman the red card while Coleman was carried off while being given Oxygen for the serious injury.
Sky Sports are reporting that Coleman suffered a double fracture of his right leg. The Everton defender was set to have surgery on Saturday morning and will have screws inserted into the leg to help with the healing process.
He is expected to be out of action for at least six months, but this could extend until the end of the year. This would mean that the Boys In Green will likely be without their captain for the rest of the qualifying campaign which is set to to be wrapped up by October.
