Richie Sadlier was performing his pre-match analysis of Ireland's crucial World Cup qualifier clash with Wales on Monday night alongside Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady.
The Dubliner was criticising Martin O'Neill for his use of Wes Hoolahan, and claimed that it would have been more beneficial for Ireland if he used him as a substitute against Moldova, instead of playing him from the start, as he then would've been fresh to start against Wales.
Sadlier began his assessment of the Hoolahan situation with the word "Christ."
Soon after, Darragh Moloney issued an apology on behalf of RTÉ for Sadlier's use of the word, in case of anyone taking offence from it.
Sadlier looked visibly shocked on air, and soon took to Twitter to reveal his bemusement at the whole situation.

Come on, let's get real, who is going to be offended by the word "Christ."
Okay, maybe the most devout Catholics might see it as taking the Lord's name in vein, but it's a turn of phrase that many of us use on a day to day basis.
The 38-year-old wasn't the only one aghast at the bizarre turn of events, and the whole of Twitter couldn't get over just how politically correct the world has become.
