Roberto Di Matteo set to be sacked and some Aston Villa fans think only one man can save them

It's not looking good for Roberto Di Matteo.

The Italian looks set to lose his job as Aston Villa manager over the next few days, according to reports by a number of media outlets.

Di Matteo is reportedly having "crisis talks" with Villa owner Dr Tony Xia, and expects to be sacked following a poor run of form for the Championship club.

Villa haven't won in nine games and dropped to 19th in the table following Saturday's 2-0 loss away to Preston North End.

According to reports, Steve Bruce, Mick McCarthy and Bristol City manager Lee Johnson are in contention to be manager should Di Matteo depart.

However, some Villa fans only want one man to take the role, and make a glorious return to Villa Park - Tim Sherwood.

Sherwood was Villa manager from February to October 2015. He steered the club away from the relegation zone, and brought them to the FA Cup final, but left after the club went 10 games without a win.

The 47-year-old was also briefly Spurs manager, and whatever about his qualities as a manager, it was never a dull moment on the sideline with Tim.

A number of Villa fans want him back to try turnaround their season, which has been so bad they seem to have forgotten how it went the last time Tim was manager.
