Nottingham Forest appoint Dougie Freedman as manager, disappoint journalists everywhere

Forest's hunt for a new boss lasts just 76 minutes

Neil Treacy

We all love Stuart Pearce, but we were beside ourselves with excitement a couple of hours ago when the news broke of his departure from Nottingham Forest.

We had our best Sherwood Forest puns at the ready, in anticipation of former Spurs boss Tim landing the job, but alas, the powers that be in Nottingham have decided to rain on our parade.

Instead, they’ve wasted little time in appointing another former player in Dougie Freedman, who played for the club between 1998 and 2000, who most recently steered Bolton Wanderers into the relegation zone in the Championship.

The time between Forest announcing Pearce’s departure and Freedman’s appointment? One hour and 16 minutes.

They didn’t hang around, did they?
