Delicious sportsmanship.

On Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City drubbed Chelsea 6-0.

Sergio Augero scored a hat-trick, after missing the tap in of the century, but Maurizio Sarri’s side lost because they were out played across the board.

Fortunately for Sarri, he works for a club with an exceptionally patient approach to its managers.

Chelsea did not look like a top four team.

So, their manager was understandably… frustrated.

But as the full-time whistle blew, and Mike Dean made to present Aguero with the match ball, Maurizio Sarri refused to shake Pep Guardiola’s hand. Sportsmanship at its finest.

At full-time Pep Guardiola told the BBC: “To score six against Chelsea and the way we played, we had so much attention. We did it, it’s an incredible compliment to the players, they are outstanding.

“We spoke this morning, we trained set pieces, trained some movements and I never thought we would score this amount of goals.”

Sarri said: “My feeling this week was really good. It was good during training and the technical meeting and the warm-up. The goal after three minutes made it very difficult to play against these opponents, who played fantastic football.

“The motivation today was good. We were not able to stay in the match and react later.”
