Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems determined to sign the right-back

Manchester United are reportedly poised to make a second bid for Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, after seeing their initial offer for him rejected.

United are said to be eyeing a squad overhaul this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to add hungry, young British players to his ranks ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign.

Having already agreed a deal in principle for Swansea’s Welsh international Daniel James, it was reported over the weekend that United had submitted a ‘substantial’ offer for England Under-21 international, Wan-Bissaka.

According to the Evening Standard, the bid – believed to have been in the region of £35m – was immediately rejected by Palace.

Despite this, senior figures at United are said to be of the opinion that an improved bid will be enough to see Wan-Bissaka make the move to Old Trafford. Palace are said to be feeding out a £60m fee but United hope something closer to £45m, with future bonus payments, will get the deal closed.

The young defender only made his first senior appearance for Palace in February 2018. Since then, he’s established himself as a regular starter for Roy Hodgson’s side throughout the 2018/19 season, which he ended by taking the club’s Player of the Season award.

Though a second United offer may be imminent, recent reports that the Old Trafford club were growing increasingly frustrated at the fees being demanded for young British talent means a move for Wan-Bissaka could boil down to how high United are willing to go to get him.
