Jordan Henderson, no matter how much Brendan Rodgers might have wanted to believe it, is definitely not Steven Gerrard.
A little over a year ago, when Gerrard left Liverpool to embark on his exciting, money-spinning new chapter in California, Rodgers decided it was Henderson who was most deserving of inheriting the captaincy of the club.
Obviously, it was always going to be tough task to try and fill the boots of a club legend, and it’s safe to say that many Liverpool fans had their reservations about whether the former Sunderland midfielder had what was required.
A year on, and – despite a change of manager – Jordan Henderson remains the skipper at Anfield. As the video below makes perfectly clear, some of the club’s supporters still aren’t entirely convinced by the 26-year-old.
Featuring highlights footage of Henderson’s performance against Burton Albion in the League Cup, the video begins by drawing attention to the fact that Liverpool’s opponents currently occupy 18th spot in the Championship. Moving on, it then shows numerous examples of Henderson miscontrolling the ball and giving away possession with over-hit or widely inaccurate passes.
Having briefly highlighted Henderson’s ability to demand the ball from a teammate before playing a simple, sideways pass, the video finishes with the words ‘Liverpool FC Midfield’ seen written on a gravestone.
It’s all tremendously harsh, but also difficult not to find funny.

Harsh. But it’s not as if the video’s creator was the only man to notice Henderson’s disappointing performance.

Final straw tonight for Jordan Henderson. Was average against a poor team and showed no positives. Should not be in the starting eleven.
