Jurgen Klopp considering surprise move for Tottenham star to replace Emre Can

Can is expected to leave the club at the end of the season

Emre Can’s future looks increasingly likely to be away from Liverpool.

The German international is in the final months of his contract at Anfield and is widely expected to join Italian champions, Juventus at the end of the season. In fact, any faint hopes that the midfielder may be staying put on Merseyside appeared to be extinguished by Steven Gerrard while the former Liverpool captain was on punditry duty for BT Sport during midweek.

With Can appearing set for a move, talk has already turned to who might be replacing him at Anfield. The latest report, which comes courtesy of the Daily Mail, suggests it could be Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama.

The Kenyan midfielder scored a goal of the season contender in Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield a couple of weeks ago but has been used sparingly throughout the season since returning from a knee injury.

The Mail now claim that Liverpool are monitoring Wanyama’s situation at Spurs, with Manchester United and Chelsea also thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.

If any of those sides are to make a move for the 26-year-old, it’s unlikely he’ll come cheap. Daniel Levy is renowned for getting the best possible price for his team’s players. Exceptions are unlikely to be made if his move to a Premier League rival is sanctioned.
