Joey Barton's managerial career got off to a bad start on Saturday afternoon as his Fleetwood town side lost 1-0 to AFC Wimbledon on the opening day of the EFL season. https://twitter.com/ftfc/status/1025771592603906050 A goal from Joe Piggot gave Wimbledon the lead and the South London side held on for all three points in the League One encounter. Appointing Barton was a gamble for Fleetwood, given Barton's disciplinary record and his lack of experience.
