Ireland international David Forde had an absolute nightmare for Millwall tonight

That damn near post

Darragh Murphy

Let’s hope David Forde gets these out of his system now just in case he gets the shout in France.

Day 1 of goalkeeping school – communicate with your defenders.

Day 2 of goalkeeping school – don’t be beaten at your near post.

The Millwall stopper must have been out sick for day two as he was clearly at fault for Oxford’s opener in Thursday night’s Johnstones Paint Trophy tie.

The much sought-after Kemar Roofe wouldn’t have expected to find the net when he let fly with a speculative shot from the byline in the first half.

But the ball crept past Forde who had positioned himself for a cross across the six yard box and couldn’t get down to cover his near post in time.

Chin up, Davey. It happens to the best of them.
