This goalkeeping clanger is the stuff of Pep Guardiola’s nightmares

He's had a shocker, here...

Simon Lloyd

Who’d be a goalkeeper, eh?

Laxmikant Kattimani, that’s who.

And credit where it’s due, the 27-year-old is more than happy to have a bash at showing the world that he’s quite comfortable with the ball at his feet. After all, that’s all the rage these days – ain’t that right, Pep?

Sadly for Laxmikant, as willing as he is to attempt to play the ball out from the back using just his feet, it doesn’t mean that he’s immune to royally fucking things up.

Just take a look at what happened when his FC Goa side met NorthEast United in the Indian Super League on Tuesday night (assuming you didn’t bother to tune in, that is).

With the ball played back to him by a defender, Laxmikant appears a picture of composure as he stops the ball dead with his first touch. Unfortunately for him, NorthEast United forward Emiliano Alfaro is on to him like a flash, closing him down quicker than you can say “loan move to Turin.”

Panicking a bit, it still seems likely that the goalkeeper will be able to hoof the ball to some form of safety. But that’s not to be. For no logical reason, he opts to kick the ball straight at Alfaro and as a result, it bounces off him and in to the goal, setting Goa on their way to 2-0 defeat.

As embarrassing a moment as this was for poor old Laxmikant, the fact that Alfaro has the nerve to celebrate such a chancer’s goal so passionately is just as bad.

Always chase those lost causes.
