Incredible stat shows title-chasing Leicester City’s opener against Stoke City was a landmark goal

How is this possible?

They might well be sustaining a title challenge that nobody saw coming, but Leicester City haven’t been pinging in the goals from outside of the box this season.

Incredibly, despite being top of the league for large parts of the season, Leicester were the last of all the Premier League team to find the back of the net from outside the area this year.

Danny Drinkwater’s opener in the game against Stoke saw Leicester finally register a goal from that kind of range, as pointed out by @OptaJoe on Twitter.

We’re sure that Claudio Ranieri and everyone else connected with the club won’t mind too much that it’s taken them so long.
