Jack Grealish says he regrets his comments about Miguel Almiron

“I’m actually buzzing for him.”

Jack Grealish has said that he regrets his dig at Miguel Almiron at the end of last season. Grealish has revealed that he reached out to the Newcastle United forward to apologise and respects how the player has reacted to the slight.

During Manchester City’s celebrations after winning the Premier League, Grealish mocked his teammate Riyad Mahrez. The England winger was speaking about how his team came from behind to beat Aston Villa and win the league on the final day of the season.

“There were two secrets. number one, Riyad, taking him off the pitch, as soon as possible. He played like Almiron yesterday,” the former Aston Villa captain said.

Jack Grealish regrets comments about Miguel Almiron.

Since those comments, Almiron has been in the form of his life. The Paraguay winger has scored eight goals in 14 appearances for the Magpies this season. Grealish, meanwhile, has netted just once for Man City this season and is yet to register an assist.

The England forward has admitted that he regrets the comments about Almiron, and said that he is a kind-hearted person who does ‘stupid stuff.’

“When I said earlier that sometimes I do stupid stuff, that was one, I regret that,” Grealish said in a recent interview.

“I swear, I’m actually buzzing the way he’s reacted. He said something about me in the interview the other day, he wished me the best.

“I thought ‘what a guy, man’ because if that was me and somebody had said that about me, I’d have probably been the other way and been like ‘f*** it’.”

He also said that he reached out to Almiron via Newcastle defender Matt Targett, who previously played alongside Grealish at Villa Park.

Grealish apologised to the player and also has no issue with the criticism he has received from Newcastle fans for his comments.

“I thought it was just private but even in private I shouldn’t have said it because he’s a fellow professional,” he said.

“I’m actually buzzing for him. I’ve had a lot of stick off the Newcastle fans and rightly so.”
