Five England stars remain unmoved in the transfer valuations.
The high-profile nature of the World Cup, stand-out performances by certain players and England’s journey to the semi-finals looks to have had a massive knock-on effect.
The likes of Harry Maguire , Kieran Trippier, John Stones, Jordan Pickford and Harry Kane all had decent tournaments and their transfer values have shot up.
Sky Sports reported that Maguire’s value had gone from £25m to £50m, while Kane shot up from £155m to £180m.
We have opted to look at the values according to the leading website Transfermarkt and there are some interesting results. Kane has taken the biggest leap here, too, as his valuation has jumped from the more conservative £108m to £135m.
To put that in perspective, Manchester City and Belgium star Kevin De Bruyne is valued at £135m while France’s teenage scoring sensation Kylian Mbappe is also at £135m. Real Madrid have been linked to a £150m move for the 19-year-old World Cup winner.
There are a few interesting takeaways from the latest market valuations of three English players that featured at the World Cup.
- Raheem Sterling’s value rose from $72m to £81m despite failing to break his goal-scoring drought in Russia
- Jesse Lingard’s value rose only £4.5m (to £36m) even though he featured prominently and scored a great goal against Panama
- He played only 211 minutes (one start) and registered just two shots on target but Marcus Rashford’s value has increased from £45m to £48.5m
18 of England’s 23-man squad have seen their values increase since taking part in the tournament. The only players who have not moved are Kyle Walker (£45m), Eric Dier (£36m), Danny Rose (£27m), Gary Cahill (£13.5m) and Danny Elbeck (£13.5m). Walker is the only member of England’s regular starting XI not to see his value increase. No player has decreased in value.
Dele Alli has jumped £18m to £90m while Trent Alexander Arnold, who was mostly back-up in Russia, has gone from £7.2m to £22.5m. His journey to the Champions League semi-final with Liverpool would be a big reason for this rise.
In total, the entire squad has seen their collective valuations rise to £137.2m. Here are the changes in England player valuations:
