Torrential rain has threatened Monday night’s World Cup qualifier in Serbia.
Ireland are in Belgrade to start their 2018 campaign but a pitch inspection is due at 6.15pm (Irish time) to assess how the pitch has held up.
An incessant downpour since lunchtime in the Serbian capital has deemed an earlier assessment of the stadium redundant and Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai will look at the ground 90 minutes before kickoff to determine if the game will go ahead.
UEFA expect the game to be played as planned (kickoff at 7.45pm Irish time) but the rain is said to be in town for the night.
If the game is postponed, Tuesday night is still an international fixture date and there could be a possibility that the match would be refixed for then.

Wales host Moldova at the same time on Monday in Group D whilst Austria are currently playing in Georgia.
