Cork City defeated Wexford last night by two goals to nil, but fans are amazed by the skill showcased by City's Hans Mpongo.
Former Irish international - David Meyler - now turned Cork manager saw his striker's prove the difference with two late goals sealing a 14th win in 19 games.
Substitute, Ruairi Keating, netted first with a sublime header past Wexford's Paul Martin in goal.
What followed that two minutes later, no one could've predicted.
Dutch striker, Hans Mpongo, cut back then dribbled to the by-line, before lobbing Martin with a rabona effort - ala Erik Lamela v Arsenal in 2021. (You can view the goal below).
Fans on X have shared their thoughts on the audacious effort.
One supporter claimed, "Hans Mpongo is the best player in the First Division", referencing his superb form this season with ten goals already in 19 games.
Other fans were more critical of Wexford's defending and goalkeeper, Martin in particular.
One fan noted: "I’ve seen better goalkeeping /defending."
Another supporter mentioned the unlucky failed attempt to clear the ball off-the-line: "Ah pity it didn’t just go straight in. Great assist though."
After the game speaking to the press, Wexford manager, Stephen Elliot outlined the strength of the Cork City bench.
Elliot said: "Credit must also go to Cork City, they were able to introduce one of the league's top players and likely highest paid players in Ruairi Keating, from the bench and he showed his quality with the decisive goal.
"We'll take the positives from this performance, continue to work hard and stay committed to playing the right way.
The players have every reason to be proud of their efforts, and our focus now turns to preparing for next week's game."
