Diego Costa has provided more than enough evidence during his near-three-year stay in England to show that he’s a bloody good footballer.
As was the case during his first season at Chelsea, his goals will probably prove to be a significant part in his club winning the Premier League title in the next few weeks.
As well as earning himself a reputation as one of the most prolific goalscorers in the game, some football fans will testify that Costa also possesses a truly world class ability to get people’s backs up.
This side of his game caught the attention of many of those that tuned in for coverage of Chelsea’s 1-0 FA Cup quarter final victory over Manchester United on Monday evening.
With Marcos Rojo assigned to mark Costa for much of the second half, there were a couple of incidents between the pair that were deemed worthy of replays from BBC directors.
Minutes before Costa went down as if Marcos Rojo standing on his big toe had snapped his leg in six places, viewers were shown a replay of the pair coming into contact with each other on the edge on the United box.
Standing behind Rojo, Costa can be seen grabbing hold of the defender, first by placing hands on his back and then his face. Although Rojo also lays hands on the Spanish international, it’s quite clear that the contact isn’t anything like enough to send Costa crashing to the floor in apparent pain.
