Former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister is in talks with the club to join new assistant manager Sean O’Driscoll and Pepijn Lijnders on Rodgers’ rejigged backroom staff.
There was a clearout behind the scenes at Anfield last month with former assistant Colin Pascoe and first team coach Mike Marsh being told that their services would no longer be needed.
According to The Express, former Scotland international McAllister is in the frame to become a part of Rodgers’ set-up after stints as manager of Coventry and Leeds, a first team coach’s role Middlesbrough and working as Gerard Houllier’s assistant with Aston Villa in 2010.
