Brazil legend Roberto Carlos thinks someone other than Ronaldo and Messi is the best in the world

Sticking with his countryman

The debate about the best player in world is typically a two-horse race.

For the past seven years, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have battled for the Ballon d’Or with Messi winning in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and Ronaldo taking the honour in 2008, 2013 and 2014.

But Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos doesn’t think either player is the best in the world right now as he opts for his country’s skipper as the greatest.

The legendary left-back told Sport that “everybody always talks about Cristiano and Messi, but Neymar is the best in the world.”

While we’d have to disagree with Carlos, who’s currently player/manager of Indian Super League club Delhi Dynamos, you have to respect the patriotism.
