Pushy parents, eh?
We all played in those u11 games when teammate’s auld lad was shouting abuse at children, but when the kids in question are playing for one of the biggest teams in the world, it becomes a bit stranger.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is seen as a real up and comer at Arsenal, and the 17-year-old has featured in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League for the Gunners this season.
He became the club’s second youngest Champions League player when he featured earlier in the season against Galatasaray, and the England u17 and u18 international made his Premier League debut four days later in the 4-1 victory against Newcastle.
But his mother Jules is no longer welcome at the club, after a number of incidents which have seen her clash with members of staff.
Police arrested her last month after an incident on the club’s training facility where she allegedly assaulted two people, but no further action was taken.
But she returned to the club’s training ground last week to watch her son play for the club’s u21 side, and police were again called and gave her an official caution after she allegedly became aggressive and threatened to drag her son out of the game.
The player is seen as being one of the club’s brightest young stars, and here’s hoping the midfielder’s development doesn’t get further hampered his parent’s actions.
