Anfield gave Loris Karius a massive reception when he came off the bench for Liverpool

Liverpool played their final game of pre-season on Tuesday night, beating Torino 3-1 at Anfield

Although new goalkeeper Alisson started the game in goal, he was replaced by Loris Karius in the closing stages.

This was the German’s first appearance at Anfield since he was responsible for two costly errors in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid at the end of last season. It’s since emerged that he was suffering from concussion during the game in Kiev.

As he made his way on to the field against Torino, the Liverpool supporters in attendance responded by giving him a rousing reception – as can be seen in the video below.

Clearly, the reception he was given was appreciated by Karius, as he made clear from his Instagram post.

Thank you Anfield for this reception! ❤️?? #YNWA #LK1

The 25-year-old was seen begging Liverpool supporters for forgiveness in the immediate aftermath of the defeat to Real. Since then, it’s been clear the majority of the club’s supporters have been firmly behind him – even if his preseason hasn’t always gone to plan.

Although he was reportedly left disappointed by Jurgen Klopp’s decision to move for Alisson, he’s still expected to remain as part of the first team picture with the Reds for the season ahead where he’s expected to be their second choice stopper.

Liverpool have looked impressive during their preparations for the new season, which they will begin by welcoming West Ham to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

As well as bringing in Alisson from Roma – a move which made the Brazilian the most expensive goalkeeper of all time – Liverpool have also brought in his countryman Fabinho from Monaco, Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke and Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.
