Manchester United and Arsenal to face UEFA hearing over Alexis Sanchez missing drugs test

Arsenal and United must now appear before Uefa

Simon Lloyd

Alexis Sanchez has reportedly missed a drugs test this week.

With the Chilean in Manchester to finalise his move from Arsenal earlier in the week, it’s reported by Spanish publication Sport that Uefa officials turned up at the North London club’s training base to conduct routine drug tests with some of the players. Sanchez is said to have been one of those selected for a test.

The report claims that Arsenal’s failure to inform Uefa that Sanchez would be elsewhere has landed them in a spot of bother. They, along with United, will now have to appear before the governing body to explain why the player did not take the test (even though everyone in the world appears to know precisely why).

Assuming the story is accurate, there doesn’t appear to be any reason for Sanchez to be concerned. If there is, it certainly isn’t mentioned.

Having finalised his move to United, he’s in line to make his debut in their fourth-round FA Cup tie at Yeovil on Friday evening. His first taste of Premier League action is expected to come when United travel to Wembley to face Tottenham on Wednesday night. His home debut will probably be the game against Huddersfield the following Saturday.
