It was first reported that he was “fine” and “stable”

There are now fears that Anthony Joshua’s condition may be worse than initially thought, after he was reported to have suffered only “minor” injuries in the horrific car crash that left two people dead.

The British heavyweight boxer, 36, was a passenger in a Lexus that hit a stationary truck in an expressway in Nigeria.

He was seen in a state of discomfort as he was being helped to exit the wrecked car, but it was reported that he was “fine” and “stable” after being transported to hospital.

But Joshua’s injuries may be more serious than first thought, as per the Daily Mail.

The former world heavyweight champion may have possible rib and knee problems, according to “an individual in his inner circle” who spoke to the Mail.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, said that he was still in hospital “in a stable condition”, in a statement shared on Monday evening.

The tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway caused the deaths of Joshua’s close friends, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele.

Joshua had shared a video on social media that showed him enjoying a game of table tennis with Ayodele, known to close friends as ‘Latz’, just hours before the accident.

‘Latz’ was a long-time friend of Joshua’s and was part of the AJ team going all the way back to his maiden world title victory in 2016, while Ayodele was Joshua’s personal trainer.
