Former Ireland U21 Samir Carruthers has literally p****d two weeks wages away

The punishment is in for Samir Carruthers.

Carruthers landed himself in warm, quickly cooling water at the Cheltenham festival where he was photographed urinating in an empty glass and dumping it from the balcony of his private box.

His club MK Dons have released a statement on the matter, confirming they have punished the former Ireland U21 and U19 international.

Chairman Peter Winkleman, who’s incredibly lucky his surname begins with a W and not a T, explained that he was “very angry” and “concerned” with the midfielder over his antics, which could have damaged the club’s “family-friendly” reputation.

Carruther’s took full responsibility for taking the piss, both figuratively and literally, and he  was “sincere, contrite and all-encompassing” with his apology, according to Winkleman’s statement. The chairman added that the player has been fined and suspended for his actions, with the fine going towards a good cause.

“Obviously, his actions are still unacceptable and, as a result, he has been disciplined. Samir has received a warning, been fined two weeks’ wages and handed a suspension by the Club, which is inclusive of this Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture with Brighton & Hove Albion.”

“Samir has requested, and the Club has agreed, that his fine will go to charitable causes. A contribution will go to a charity of Cheltenham Festival’s choice; Rickley Park School, who Samir has worked closely with in the past; the Football League’s official charity partner Prostate Cancer UK and Willen Hospice, a charity which MK Dons supporters are raising money for by walking and kayaking to the upcoming match at Fulham.”
