People may scoff at the so-called ‘magic’ of the FA Cup.
But there is little doubt that the competition still creates some sense of possible shock results that is rare in almost any other football tournament in the world.
Exeter City face Liverpool this weekend looking to cause a sensational upset, but it is more matters off the field that is likely to garner them positive column inches.
The club’s match programme for home games, ‘The Grecian’ is normally 82 pages long.
But in a classy tribute to the Liverpool fans who lost their lives in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, the match programme for this Friday’s game will be 96 pages long.
Oliver Roderick, Exeter City Media Manager, explained the decision to the Exeter Express and Echo.
“This was always going to be a larger edition and we couldn’t think of a more fitting tribute then making it 96 pages.”
“We have already received huge orders for it.”
The game at St James Park is almost sold out with a warm reaction to the news this morning of the kind gesture.
