Cork, Dublin and Laois enjoy victories in oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship

SportsJOE

Cork, Dublin and Laois all enjoyed victories during this week’s oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship.

High-flyers Cork continued their unbeaten start to the championship on Friday night when they defeated Limerick by two points in Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

Jack Leahy and Diarmuid Healy were once again sensational for the side managed by Cork legend Ben O’Connor, scoring 0-19 between them.

Having already beaten Clare and Waterford in the earlier rounds, Cork can guarantee their place in the Munster final with a victory over Tipperary next Friday.

That is a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash, with both sides having won all of their games to date. The winner will more than likely progress directly through to the Munster final, with the loser likely bound for the semi-finals.

Jack Leahy is a key man for the Cork u20s

There will be games in the oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship every weekend from now until the end of June.

Laois qualify for quarter final

Meanwhile in Leinster, Laois ended Kildare’s interest in the oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship with a nine point win over their neighbours and rivals on Friday night.

Jer Quinlan, Tom Cuddy and Cody Comerford all stood out, fresh from their experience of winning the National League Division 2A senior final against Carlow recently.

Borris-Kilcotton star Quinlan has starred for the Laois seniors in recent weeks and he’s certainly one to watch for the future.

Laois now advance to the quarter finals of the Leinster championship, where they’ll take on neighbours Offaly.

Dublin impress in victory over Westmeath

Senior star Diarmuid Ó Dulaing was the star of the show for Dublin in their seventeen point win over Westmeath in TEG Cusack Park on Sunday afternoon.

Jamie Conroy and David Purcell also shone for Shane O’Brien’s side who had difficulty dealing with the impact of David O’Reilly for Westmeath.

But Dublin had enough, and they now advance to the quarter finals for a clash with Wexford. On this evidence, they’ll have a say yet in oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland Hurling Championship.
