Karolina Kowalkiewicz is tough as nails.
UFC strawweight contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz got a big win at UFC 223. The Polish striker scored a split decision win to snap Felice Herrig’s win streak at four and assert her position at the business end of the division. The judges scored the fight 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 in favour of Kowalkiewicz.
It was an impressive performance from Kowalkiewicz in which she showed no signs of being rattled after the incident at media day involving Conor McGregor and his entourage. Kowalkiewicz was on the red corner fighters’ bus that got struck by the dolly. She was one the fighters Dana White mentioned specifically when he first faced the media after the incident.
“The worst part is the women that were on the bus. Rose and Karolina are fighters, but these goons are throwing bike racks and chairs and things like that through the windows of the bus and didn’t care who they hit or who they hurt.”

Pride of Poland
Speaking to media backstage at UFC 223, she condemned the actions of Conor McGregor.
“Conor this time went too far. He crossed the line because in this bus were women like me and Rose (Namajunas). I don’t know why they did it, but I am from Poland. I grow up in Poland, so I’m ok. (laughs).”
She claimed that one member of McGregor’s crew punched the window she was sitting beside, despite clearly seeing that she wasn’t Khabib Nurmagomedov. She had no idea what happened or why he did it, but she wasn’t fazed by the situation. When asked if she was scared, she gave a response that caused a wave of laughter in the media room.
“No, no (I wasn’t scared). Like I said. I am from Poland.”
Well said, Karolina.
