Paddy Brophy played his first game of AFL football yesterday and the Kildare man has admitted feeling the full physical force of his adopted sport.

The former Lilywhites’ forward, who joined West Coast Eagles on a rookie contract over the winter, and came off the bench in a win over the Indigenous All-Stars a day before his 21st birthday.

Following the game, he acknowledged the increased pace and physicality of Australian Rules compared to Gaelic football.
