The MMA debut of Sage Northcutt’s sister was far from ideal

Tough start for Colbey Northcutt

Both Northcutt siblings are now coming off a loss.

You’ve heard all about ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt, the young UFC star who is currently 1-2 from his last three fights.

But you might not know that the most athletic specimen on the UFC roster has a sister who also competes.

Colbey Northcutt had gone 4-1 as an amateur before arriving at the decision that the time was right to go pro.

Northcutt, 24, was given the opportunity to showcase her skills on the Legacy Fighting Alliance 14 card on Friday night but it didn’t go as she would have hoped.

Competing at bantamweight, Northcutt was stopped in the second round by fellow debutant, Courtney King.

Northcutt’s famous brother was commentating on the event for AXS TV and watched on in disappointment as Colbey found herself on her back, the victim of heavy ground-and-pound.

Referee Jeff Rexroad didn’t give Northcutt much of a chance to fight her way out of the unfavourable position and waved the fight off after just over 90 seconds had passed in the second round.

Northcutt will be back. Of course she will.

But, unlike her brother, her hype train hadn’t even left the station before it was derailed.
