Phil Healy

Phil Healy, take a bow.

The fastest Irish woman over ever 200m, Phil Healy, is through the semi-finals of the 100m 2018 senior European championships.

The Cork native started slow, but really kicked on after 40 metres. She finished strong to secure a time of 11.44 which was good enough to see her finish second in heat three. The run saw her go through automatically to the semi-finals as one of the top three in her heat.

Switzerland’s Alja Del Ponte came in first with a time of 11.39 while Inna Eftimova came in third at 11:45.

Check out her amazing run below.

19-year-old Gina Akpe-Moses narrowly missed out on the semis in her first senior European championships. She finished fourth with a time of 11.63 in the first 100m heat. She was only 0.02 seconds off Irena Siragusa who came in fourth in Healy’s race.

The future is very bright for the 2017 European u20 100m champ. She was also part of the 4×100 m relay team that took the silver medal at this year’s U20 World Championships.

Very exciting times for Irish Athletics.
