Otto Porter of Washington Wizards was supposed to be marking Chicago Bulls' Tony Snell - a three-point menace - in the final seconds of his side's NBA match-up at the United Center.
Instead, Porter's eyes were drawn to the ball and, seemingly mesmerised, he allowed his man to skip off unmarked for a three-point attempt. It took Porter 2.14 seconds to release his man had scooted off.
Snell missed his three-point effort but Bulls forward Pau Gasol was fouled when claiming the rebound. He netted two from two at the free-throw line and the Wizards lost 97-92.
