The idea of tennis matches being stuffy affairs in which any noise is met with hundreds of scowls and tuts has been turned on its head.

All because a tennis linesman was hit with a ball on his. Schadenfreude abounded when Australia's Nick Kyrgios accidentally directed a ball onto the noggin of an official during his 6-0, 6-2, 7-6 victory over Diego Schwartzman today. But it wasn't all fun and games for the world number 29 as, after a line call went against him, he refused to continue playing before eventually restarting. And the 20-year-old also came under flak for shouting "dirty scum" during the match but he claims he was yelling it in frustration at himself rather than directing it at any official. Court two certainly seemed like the place to be this afternoon.
