While it's common for basketball supporters to attempt to force opposition players into rushing shots by counting down the shot-clock a second or two early, it's rare that the player falls for it.
And t's even rarer for the referee to take the bait.
But when the VCU Rams took on Massachusetts yesterday, the spectators pulled both off.
With the Minutemen advancing in the Rams' half of the court, the VCU fans piped up with a fake shot-clock countdown which forced an opposing player to shoot desperately.
But not only was he fooled. All three officials were also left perplexed by the chant and had to gather confusedly around a monitor to piece together exactly what had happened.
Nailed it, VCU fans.
