Report: NFL QB Cam Newton involved in ‘serious car accident’ in North Carolina

Carolina Panthers star man, QB Cam Newton, has been involved what local TV crews are describing as 'a serious car accident' in Charlotte this afternoon. Pictures from the scene purport to show Newton on a stretcher after the collision which involved two cars, and resulted in Newton's car being flipped onto its side.Cam Newton on a stretcher. UPDATE 4: 20.37: The Panthers have confirmed that Newton has in fact suffered two fractures to his back, an injury similar to the one suffered by Dallas QB Tony Romo.
Further testing revealed that Cam Newton has two transverse process fractures in his lower back and no further internal injuries.
