Place Your Bets: NFL Week 13

We're going with the favourites this week

Gareth Makim

Last week didn’t go our way with just the one winner, but we’re still in profit over the past three weeks and looking to right the ship in Week 13 with this trio of games.

San Diego Chargers at Baltimore Ravens (Ravens -6)
Both teams are 7-4, yet beyond that they don’t have that much in common. The Ravens are in the slightly strange position of being in a tie for last place in the ultra-competitive AFC North while possibly being the third best team in the conference behind New England and Denver. They have racked up the NFL’s fourth best point differential by feasting on lesser teams outside their division. Ever since starting the 5-1, the Chargers only have close victories over the then winless Raiders and the St Louis Rams to their names, while their last trip east saw them hammered 37-0 in Miami.

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans (Texans -7)
The Texans were at home last week and let us down against Cincinnati, but we don’t grudges here, so we’re ready to go back to the well against an inferior Titans defence that has been gouged on the ground in recent weeks. Houston running back Arian Foster is a game-time decision again, but after missing the Bengals game is much more likely to answer the bell and could have a big day. And, of course, it’s always better to side with JJ Watt than against him.

Washington at Indianapolis Colts (Colts -9)
We’re going with a third big favourite this week in the Colts, who have made a habit of doling out heavy defeats to weak opponents. Last week’s 23-3 win against Jacksonville was their fifth victory of 16 points or more this season, and Andrew Luck-to-TY Hilton continues to be one of the most electric QB-receiver combos in the league. On the other side, you’d need to look hard to find a team in more disarray than Washington, who have benched quarterback Robert Griffin in favour of journeyman Colt McCoy after a pair of anaemic displays in a big defeat against 2-9 Tampa Bay and a four-point loss in San Francisco that would have been 20 or more if the Niners offence wasn’t itself stuck in quicksand.
