We’re not crying,it’s just the cold

If this doesn’t make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside then you are officially a dead heartless piece of clay.

Jordan Leopold’s 11’s year old daughter deserves some of the credit,if not all,for helping the veteran ice hockey player have less of a commute to work from now on. It’s after she pleaded with his franchise the Columbus Blue Jackets to allow him a move to his native Minnesota Wild in a letter that only an 11-year old could get away with writing.

The defenceman was traded in November from St Louis Blues to Columbus and that meant he was away from his family in Minnesota more often. So his 11 year old Jordyn decided to write a letter to the local team, the Wild, with a heartfelt plea to try and sign her dad so she could see him more often at home.

Leopold’s wife found the letter in January and posted it online not thinking that anything would actually come of it.

But the Minnesota Wild obviously are the most cuddly bunch of sportsmen around and on NHL transfer deadline day they swapped Justin Falk and a 5th round pick in this summer’s draft for Leopold.

See, sport isn’t all about winning,it’s about being nice too sometimes.

Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen republished the letter on his Twitter page to explain the bachground to the trade

We’re off to have a good cry.
