VIDEO: These Irish students really enjoyed their first baseball game in San Diego

Legendary support on summer hols

Soaking up American culture from plastic cups in the baseball bleachers – this is what J1’s are all about.

San Diego continues to attract hundreds of Irish J1 students every summer and 2015 looks no different.

An absolute bevvy of Irish sports-lovers invaded the upper decks of Petco Park to cheer on the local Padres team as they took on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Such was their raucous level of support that they caught the attention of the broadcasters covering the MLB encounter.

One commentator joked that they were ‘soccer hooligans’ while his co-commentator remarked, ‘They may have had a beverage or two.’

For those keeping track of the MLB’s game-a-day antics, the Padres won 7-2.

A tip of the hat to our big brothers JOE.ie for this one.
