The Houston Rockets completed a stunning comeback to throttle the Los Angeles Clippers and reach the finals of the Western Conference last night, leaving Clippers star Chris Paul to turn to the words of another sporting hero to get his disappointment across.
The star-crossed Clippers, who have never reached the Conference finals in their 45 year history, looked set to break new ground when they took a 3-1 lead early in the seven-game series.
But after losing Game 5 in Houston, the Clippers coughed up a 19-point second-half lead in Game 6 on their own court on Thursday before capitulating to a 113-100 defeat in last night's deciding game.
You can't criticise Paul's effort, though, with the point guard doing all he could to aid the Clippers' cause...
The Rockets now face top seeds Golden State and league MVP Stephen Curry for a place in the NBA Finals against either the Atlanta Hawks or LeBron James's Cleveland Cavaliers.
