What we wouldn’t give to see the products of Wayne Rooney’s unusual hobby…

Maybe some day, Wayne Rooney will make it onto the leaving cert syllabus.

The Manchester United star revealed that he has a hobby that the majority of his teammates probably don't share with him - writing poetry. Rooney opened up to the Manchester Evening News about how he has been a poet for years.

“I used to love writing poems, even before I was with Coleen,"  “I don’t know why, I used to like to write little stories too. So when I first got with Coleen I used to write her lots of poems. They have died down a bit of late.”

So there are two possibilities here. Either Rooney has a hidden romantic soul and has produced works of art that would surprise us all or his poems read like they were written by a professional footballer. Maybe his mother-in-law can give us some indication...

"He loved her, you could see it. He proposed at the petrol station. They were supposed to go for a meal somewhere but he couldn’t wait. So I think he must have got the engagement ring out at the petrol station. They never went out for the meal. They came home and had corned beef hash."
