West Ham’s end of season lap of honour was painfully grim

Aside from Andre Ayew's terrible miss and some questionable officiating, West Ham fans didn't really have much to cheer about during their match against Liverpool. For Slaven Bilic's men, their cup final came last week when they effectively ended Tottenham's title bid with a 1-0 win against their London rivals. The three points also guaranteed Premier League football for the Irons in 2017/18. This summer will be a vitally important one for West Ham's immediate future because the thrilling football from the 2015/16 campaign hasn't been seen since the move from Upton Park. In fact, West Ham have only scored 19 league goals in front of their own supporters. Then again, very few clubs are as familiar with the yo-yo life of supporting your football team quite like West Ham. Facing a defeat is always tough for any player and fan. However, the 4-0 win for Liverpool ensured that there was a rather depressed and deflated aura around the Olympic Stadium. To their credit, Bilic's men still embarked on the standard end of season lap of honour in front of their fans. It's just a shame that the stadium was practically empty. Well, at least no one had to view it via binoculars or sit down on a slab of cement during the proceedings.
