James McClean looks likely to seal a move back to the Premier League and end his two-year association with Wigan. The Birmingham Mail are reporting that West Bromwich Albion have had a £1.5m bid accepted for the Derry man in what would be Tony Pulis' first summer signing. McClean rose to prominence when Martin O'Neill plucked him from the Sunderland reserves in December 2011 but, having since moved to the Latics, he would now be preparing for life in League One if he stayed on in Wigan. It seems, however, that the Baggies are keen on recruiting the Irish fan favourite for Pulis' effective midtable outfit and it would mean McClean would be following former team mate, Callum McManaman, out the exit door and down to the Hawthorns. The old Derry City boy would be the only Republic of Ireland player in the squad but would join fellow islanders, Chris Brunt and Gareth McAuley, at the club. McClean has marked himself out as the guy who does exactly what every fan say they would so would fit perfectly under the Pulis regime.
