Wayne Rooney ‘turned down’ crazy money from Chinese Super League

Wayne Rooney has no intention of skipping out on Manchester United to cash in with a move to China.

The England skipper has reportedly already turned down an offer to join a team in the Chinese Super League worth an incredible £500,000 a week and Rooney has let it be known that he is staying at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future. A source close to Rooney told the Sunday Times that: 'Wayne is one of the top players in the world and clubs in the CSL have made their intent clear, so it would be strange if they hadn't made inquiries about him. 'Under no circumstances would he consider the option of going to China presently. He is the Manchester United and England captain and takes his responsibility seriously for both.' Rooney, who is currently out for several weeks with a knee injury, is chasing a number of United milestones. The 30-year-old is just five goals shy of Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time club scoring record of 249, while he would be due a club testimonial in August. He would also want to remain at the forefront of the England attack for Euro 2016, and a move to the Far East would almost certainly compromise his status with the national team. A post-Euros move remains a possibility, however, and despite big-money deals for the likes of Alex Teixeira, Ramires and Jackson Martinez, Rooney would become the by far the biggest fish to be reeled in by the newly-empowered Chinese league.
