The Irish President has a connection with Galway dating back to the early 1960s and he served the area as both a TD and a Senator for many years, as well as working for University College Galway. Throughout his life, President Higgins has kept in with the League of Ireland and he still tries to get along to as many games as possible. He was fortunate enough to be at Eamon Deacy Park, last night, to watch Galway United stun champions Dundalk, 2-1.
