Remember Mattia Destro? He showed promise at Roma when he was young, but never really lived up to his potential and struggled with fitness issues.
The striker is now playing for Bologna and boasts a record of 25 goals in 82 matches for the Serie A side. Nothing to write home about, but not disastrous.
Today, though, he showed why he wasn't a success at Roma or Milan. For those of you who have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Premier League, think Kanu for West Brom. That bad.
On the stroke of half-time, Destro was given the chance to level the scoring against SPAL, who were leading 1-0. A bobble lifted the ball onto his shin and the ball floated over the bar.

The bobble gives Destro half an excuse for the miss, but it's still embarrassing to miss an open goal from about two yards out.
You really have to watch it a few times to believe it. It was one of those where it was literally harder to miss than score.
This will probably keep him awake at night for the next week, especially when you consider that SPAL went on to win 1-0. Bologna are not in any real danger of going down though, so he shouldn't beat himself up too much.
