The former Manchester United stopper, currently at Notts County, conceded in embarrassing circumstances during their 3-1 defeat at Cambridge United on Saturday.
The Northern Ireland international was taking a routine kick-out and had a loitering striker hanging around in front of him, as tends to happen.
But rather than guide his kick to the right or left of Ben Williamson and into the path of a teammate, Carroll bizarrely walloped it into his back which caused the ball to loop over the goalkeeper's head and into the net.
This man has a Premier League winner's medal but, more recently, he's had a nightmare.
