His 36th birthday may be fast approaching but Steven Gerrard's right foot is still as good as a magic wand.
The LA Galaxy midfielder is playing in a much deeper role nowadays but he can still get the ball forward quickly with his his laser-accurate passes. One such pass came in the Galaxy's 4-1 victory over Houston Dynamo on Friday night. Gerrard put Giovani dos Santos' second of the game on a plate for the Mexican international with a 50 yard cross-field diagonal that looked reminiscent of former England teammate Paul Scholes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n8ligLi1Ws The former Liverpool captain wore a black armband for the game at the BBVA Compass Stadium to mark the 27 year anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. “It was a very emotional night for me tonight with the Hillsborough memorial back home,” Gerrard said. “I asked the referee if I could wear an armband to salute everyone back home and pay my respects.
