WATCH: Daryl Horgan’s stunning first goal for Preston is not ordinary for a man of his experience

A day shy of his second month at Preston but Daryl Horgan looks as if he has been there for years.

The Galway native was playing in his 50th game of an epic 2016/17 season that has seen him star for Dundalk and settle right in at Preston. Horgan's first appearance for the Championship side was a handy FA Cup cameo against Arsenal and he teed up a goal against Brighton, a week later, in his first start. Today's outing against Brentford was his fifth for Preston and, after 82 minutes, he scored his first goal for the club. Aiden McGeady had P.N.E 3-1 up - two goals and an assist - when Horgan latched onto a though ball. He outpaced the Brentford back four, before allowing the ball to run across to his left foot and finishing low into the right-hand corner. https://twitter.com/patmccarry/status/830503531853520896 Preston boss Simon Grayson admitted Horgan was close to coming off when his goal arrived:

"We were just looking to take Daryl off, because he looked like he was starting to look a little fatigued, but he kept going and took it early and didn’t allow the keeper to get set and it was nice to nestle in the bottom corner."

24 years young and still finding his feet in England, Horgan showed no signs of nerves and is already helping his side keep in touch with sides in the playoff places.
